Frequently Asked & Answered

Everything you need to know about attending the 2026 Public Health & AI Summer School.

General

It’s an immersive four-day program at the University of Arizona designed to help public health professionals build practical skills in artificial intelligence. The 2026 edition runs June 8–11 at the Grand Challenges Research Building in Tucson, with two in-person tracks (AI Literacy and AI Fluency) plus an online option.

Public health practitioners, researchers, students, clinicians, and program leaders who want to understand or apply AI in their work. The AI Literacy track is built for newcomers (no coding required); the AI Fluency track is for those ready to build reproducible pipelines, RAG systems, and geospatial AI.

Not for the AI Literacy track — it assumes no prior AI or programming experience. The AI Fluency track is hands-on and assumes comfort with data tools and basic scripting.

Selected sessions from the in-person program are curated into the on-demand Online Track, which opens for registration in mid-July 2026. Live in-person sessions are not individually streamed.

Registration & Fees

In-person tracks are $400 regular price, with discounted tiers for AI & PH Club members (−50%), UA students (−40%), public health workers (−35%), and UA junior faculty (−35%). The Online Track is $199.

Both in-person tracks have reached venue capacity. You can join the waiting list — if we’re able to expand capacity or a seat opens, we’ll contact waitlisted registrants first, in order.

All four days of programming, the daily AI Maker Space labs, expert panels and fireside chats, materials, and — for those who meet the criteria — a University of Arizona micro-credential and digital badge.

Yes. Students enrolled at the Mel & Enid Zuckerman College of Public Health in good academic standing can apply through the Dean’s Annual Fund. See the Scholarships section for details.

Refund requests should be sent to info@ph-ai.me. Because seating is limited and in high demand, please review track details carefully before registering.

Credentials

Participants who meet the earning criteria receive an official micro-credential and digital badge issued by the University of Arizona — Applied AI in Public Health. It’s verifiable and shareable on LinkedIn.

Full attendance across the four days and participation in the AI Maker Space project work. Specific completion requirements are shared with registered participants ahead of the program.
